Esthetics Licensing and Your Future Career

Half-day lecture on State Board and Advocacy for Advanced Esthetic Licensing

Estheticians in California need to become more proactive in their state board licensure and industry standards. Promoting and advocating for advanced esthetic licensure in this state should be done by the already licensed professionals, as so many other professions currently do to get more for their careers and future. We all know that California limits the practice or scope of practice of what an esthetician/skin care therapist can do by law, but do you know what that is? The only way things can change is through state board regulations and advocacy, or through the legislative members of the California State Assembly or California State Senate. As a professional come see how you can see your grow and change and become more technology advanced if the opportunity to get an advanced license were offered in California.

In this class students will learn more about the future of the skin care industry, market trends, technology and product advancement, current scope of practice for California licensed estheticians, why there should be an advanced licensure for those who want to offer more services and products to their clients/patients, why the skin care industry should be considered in the allied health or therapeutic services industry as the science and technology changes in this industry. Let’s move our industry from the dark ages to the future and not always being playing "catch up".

Morning/Afternoon Sessions Students will learn:
  • Current California Scope of Practice for Estheticians and other beauty professionals
  • Current and future California and National Labor Market trends on the Esthetic profession
  • Why Esthetics should be considered an allied health or therapeutic services field of study
  • How to get involved at the state board meetings and committees for our industry
  • How to get involved with state senate and assembly representatives to advocate for change in California
  • How to get and remain a professional industry and understand the equipment and products that should be made available to trained/licensed estheticians/skin care therapists for treatments to clients/patients
  • The importance of a client consultation record and record keeping information
  • FERPA v. HIPPA, and other client/patient confidentiality forms and laws
